Russellville volleyball nears end of regular season

The Russellville High School volleyball team is close to wrapping up the 2019 regular season, and the Lady Golden Tigers recently battled in three matches away from home.

RHS went to East Lawrence Oct. 10 and defeated the Lady Eagles in a 2-0 win. Russellville took the first set 25-14 and followed that up with a 25-18 score to take the match. 

Alivia Clemmons had five digs and five kills. Krista Sikes had 11 assists, four digs and three aces. Callie Palmer added six kills and four blocks. Lexie Glass picked up five kills and two blocks. Briana Ramirez also added nine digs for Russellville.

Hatton was the scene Oct. 10 for a tri-match among the Hornets, Lexington and Russellville. 

RHS fell to Lexington by scores of 18-25, 26-24 and 12-15. Glass had five kills and two blocks, while Palmer added 6 kills. Ramirez had 14 digs, and Alivia Clemmons added six kills and nine digs. Chalea Clemmons had five kills, five digs and two blocks, and Abby Green had 15 assists and four aces.

RHS then dropped a match to Hatton by scores of 29-27, 22-25 and 5-15. 

Palmer had eight kills, and Ramirez had 18 digs. Alivia Clemmons added 10 digs, four kills and two aces while, Green had 16 assists. Caroline Sparks and Chalea Clemmons both pitched in with five kills each.

Russellville (5-24) will finish up regular season play with a match at Florence, followed a few days later by the Lawrence County pre-area tournament scheduled for Oct. 19. 

Lawrence County will also host the Class 5A, Area 14 tournament Oct. 21. Third-seeded RHS will play No. 2 seed West Point in the first round while the host, Lawrence County, will take on No. 4 Hamilton.
