Point of Grace to perform at Calvary Baptist

When Calvary Baptist Church was trying to decide what musical group to bring to performance, minister of music Scott Underwood said there were a few stipulations in mind.

“We wanted somebody with quality sound, quality performance and who has longevity of faithfulness,” Underwood said.

Enter: Point of Grace.

Shelley Breen, Denise Jones and Leigh Cappillino, who comprise the trio, have 27 No. 1 songs, 13 Dove Awards, two GRAMMY nominations, career album sales in excess of 7 million with multiple Platinum and Gold certifications. This will be the group’s first appearance at Calvary, and Underwood he doesn’t think they have been in the Shoals area – perhaps ever, or at least not for quite some time.

“They have a history of doing great performances. They have a history of a heart for ministry,” Underwood said.

The concert will be held July 3 at 6 p.m. as part of the church’s Fourth of July weekend fellowship, which will also include watermelon and fireworks.

A love offering will be taken. The concert is sponsored in part by Compassion International.

The concert is set to last about an hour and a half. Underwood invited everyone to come for “encouragement for the soul.”
