Hodges couple charged with making meth
HODGES – A Franklin County couple was arrested Friday afternoon after officers with the Franklin County Drug Unit located an active meth lab at their residence.
Wade W. Chaney, 43, and Tanya M. Chaney, both of 12098 Franklin 16, Hodges, were arrested for first-degree attempted manufacture of a controlled substance and trafficking methamphetamine, Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver said.
According to Oliver, investigators with the Franklin County Drug Unit arrived at the residence at 12098 Franklin 16 in Hodges to follow up on a report of persons purchasing chemicals in order to manufacture methamphetamine.
Oliver said when the officers arrived at the residence, they came in contact with Wade and Tanya Chaney who gave permission to search their premises.
During the search, Oliver said officers located an active meth lab, burned materials from a previous lab, drug paraphernalia, 40 grams of liquid meth and other chemicals used in the manufacturing process.
Both Wade and Tanya Chaney were arrested at the scene. The two are currently out of jail on $7,500 bonds each.
