Man charged with abusing girl for more than two years

A local man accused of sexually abusing a young girl on and off for two years was indicted by a recent grand jury.

Jeramey Mickael Sartin, 35, 1631 Waterloo Rd., Russellville, was indicted by the January grand jury on four counts of sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old, Franklin County District Attorney Joey Rushing said.

According to reports, the 11-year-old female victim told school officials in October that Sartin had been abusing her for the past two years.

Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said school officials contacted the Department of Human Resources who contacted law enforcement officials.

Hargett said after investigators met with the victim and DHR workers, Sartin was brought in for questioning where he allegedly admitted to part of the allegations.

Rushing said Sartin’s case will be set for the March 29 arraignment docket and could be placed on the trial docket by this summer.
