James Montgomery Mayfield, 79, of Spruce Pine, Ala., passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Helen Keller Hospital.

He was a native of Colbert County, but had lived in Franklin County for the past year.  He was retired from the City of Sheffield Street Department.

Funeral service will be Saturday, June 4, 2011, 11 a.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville with Jimmy Thrasher officiating.  Burial will follow in Grissom Cemetery in Spruce Pine.

He is survived by children, Alison Horton and husband, Mike, of Spruce Pine, Angela Hatton and husband, Franky, of Tharptown, Rina Bailey and husband, Chris, of Littleville, Missy Harrison, of Leighton; brothers, Hoyt Mayfield and wife, Virginia, of Trinity, Roy Allen Mayfield, of Decatur, Roger Mayfield and wife, Tony, of Town Creek; sisters, Imogene Hudson and husband, Bill, of Indiana, Lou Marshall and husband, Sonny, of Sheffield, Mary Cole and husband, Larry, of Tuscumbia; sister-in-law, Judy Mayfield, of Spring Valley; grandchildren, Ashley Horton, Heather Hatton, Haley Hatton, Alex Hamilton, Luke Bailey Savannah Hamilton, Heath Hatton, BreeAnn Bailey; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents, Roy and Ethel Mayfield; brother, Harold Mayfield.
