Vernon L. Taylor
Former long time Alabama resident Vernon L. Taylor, 91, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2011, in Murfreesboro, Tenn., where he had been a resident since 1986. He was born in Franklin County on Sept. 13, 1919.
Mr. Taylor was an active member of the Church of Christ both in Alabama and Tennessee. He was an army veteran and served his country during World War II and then worked for approximately 30 years at Union Carbide Corporation in Muscle Shoals.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marjorie (James) Taylor; son, Hoyt Taylor and wife, Linda, Raleigh, N.C.; daughter, Geraldine Pennington, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; grandson, Chad Pennington and wife, Kelly, of Dallas, Texas; sisters, Zulene Wood, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Evelton Thorne, Huntsville; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Grover and Hester Taylor; brother, Edward Taylor; sisters, Wilma Hester, Madrue Skidmore, and Larue Franks.
The funeral service will be Saturday, May 28, 2011, at 1 p.m., at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville, with burial in Franklin Memory Gardens. Officiating will be Bill Hall. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.
