Charles William Hastings, 79, of Red Bay passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011 at his residence. He was born August 13, 1931 in Alcorn County, Miss. to Charles Clifton and Alene Bragg Hastings. He was a brick mason and a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post 120.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011 at First United Methodist Church in Red Bay with Bro. Buster Timmons and Jackie Hastings officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay assisted the families.
He is survived by wife, Mae Jean Hastings, of Red Bay; three daughters, Deborah Susan Bigham and husband, Charles, of Birmingham, Pamela Jean Nelson and husband, Jimmy, of Nesbit, Miss. and Mary Charlene Fancher and husband, Jerry Paul, of Red Bay; two sisters, Joyce Graham, of Muscle Shoals and Nancy Parker, of Mooreville, Miss.; one brother, Don Hastings, of Red Bay; six grandchildren, Crystal Copeland, Jonni Desnoyers, Shane Orrick, Heath Orrick, Grant Fancher and Gretchen Fancher; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bob Hastings and David Hastings.
Pallbearers were Grant Fancher, Shane Orrick, Jake Rhodes, Stevie Moore, Joe Hastings, Kevin Hastings, Bill Davis, Brent Davis, Mark Hastings and Donnie Hastings. Honorary pallbearers will be Heath Orrick, Tyler Hastings, Bradley Miller, Matthew Copeland, Daniel Copeland, Elias Counce, Hall Hastings, Thomas Desnoyers, Derrick Copeland and Jimmy Hicks.
