John Richard Bush, 74, of Russellville, passed away Friday, Nov. 19, 2010 at ECM Hospital.
Mr. Bush was a native of Sheffield but had lived in Russellville for over 45 years. He was a member of Russellville First Baptist Church. He had worked as a safety director for Jimmy Dean Foods for over 16 years before his retirement in 2001. He had also worked at U.S. Reduction for several years. He served in the Alabama National Guard, Sheffield Unit, for six years.
He was a 1954 graduate of Sheffield High School and a graduate of the University of North Alabama where he played basketball and baseball. He also served as a high school basketball and football official in this area for many years.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010 at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel in Russellville with burial in Franklin Memory Gardens. Officiating was Bro. Barry Holcomb.
He is survived by his wife, of 51 years, Janet Craddock Bush; daughters, Jenny Casteel and husband, David, and Johna Sherrod and husband, John, all of Muscle Shoals; sister, Cathy Norris and husband, Bud, Knoxville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Raleigh Sherrod, Reid Sherrod, and Jonah Casteel, all of Muscle Shoals; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Dorothy Bush.
Pallbearers were Reid Sherrod, Jonah Casteel, Torey Trousdale, Johnny Hardin, Bud Norris and Tyler Norris.
