Albert Thomas Grimes, 89, of Red Bay passed away Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010 at his residence. He was born Oct. 27, 1920 in Lee County, Miss. He was a truck driver for 30 years and was a member of the Church of God for 60 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 24, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. Billy Allen, Bro. Tim Winters and Bro. Billy West officiating. Burial was in Union Grove Church of God Cemetery in Eggville, Miss.
He is survived by four children, Lynette Norris and husband, Chester, of Fulton, Miss., Janice Johnson and husband, Hal, of Smithville, Miss., David Grimes, and Donald Grimes and wife, Becky, all of Red Bay; eight grandchildren, Sheila Cruse, of Tupelo, Miss., Brad Norris, of Fulton, Miss., Brent Norris, of Louisiana, Pam Stegall, of Mooreville, Miss., David Grimes, Jr., of Lebanon, Tenn., Dana Nichols, of Vina, Stephanie Booth, of Alexander City, Ala. and Christopher Grimes, Red Bay; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Nora Grimes.
He was the last sibling being preceded in death by six brothers and one sister. He was also preceded in death by two wives, June Grimes and Gladys West Grimes and a son, Thomas Lavon Grimes.
Pallbearers were Chester Norris, Hal Johnson, Brad Norris, Brent Norris, David Grimes, Jr., Christopher Grimes, Butch Booth, Perry Stegall and Michael Paul Nichols.
