Vernell Hettie Tompkins, 76, passed away on Monday, Oct. 4, 2010 at Russellville Hospital.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010 at Eastside Baptist Church with Bro. Dennis Stewart and Bro. Jeff Fleming officiating. Burial was in Franklin Memory Gardens. Spry Memorial Chapel assisted the family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Tompkins; father, Johnnie Scott; brother, Wayne Scott; son, Lester Tompkins; grandson, Joseph Tompkins.
She is survived by her mother, Ophelia Scott; daughter, Carol Kelly and husband, Milton, of Florence; sons, Stanley Tompkins, of Tuscumbia, Albert Tompkins and wife, Carol, of Russellville, Kenneth Tompkins and wife, Tammy, of Russellville, Johnny Tompkins and wife, Polly, of Phil Campbell; brothers, O’neal Scott and wife, Mattie Lou, Athel Scott and wife, Hazel; sisters, Bernice McMicken, Shellie Hancock, Bettye Scott; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
