City school board approves meal prices for 2010-2011
The Russellville city school board took several actions Thursday involving the child nutrition program, including setting a price list for 2010-2011 school meals.
Breakfast at all schools will be $1. Lunch at West Elementary and Russellville Elementary will be $1.50 and the prices will be $1.75 at the high school and middle school.
Reduced prices are 30 cents for breakfast and 40 cents for lunch.
In other business, the school board:
• entered into an agreement with the Community Action Partnership of North Alabama to furnish food service to Head Start
• entered into an agreement with the city of Russellville to provide after-school snacks to the Chucky Mullins Center after-school care program
• agreed to provide breakfast and lunch to the Special Programming for Achievement Network at the College Avenue Education Center
• agreed to take part in the multi-system paper bid
• approved contracts with Sara Lee for bread and Purity Dairy for milk and ice cream
• approved renewing the board’s membership in the Alabama Association of School Boards and the Legal Assistance Fund
• approved a facility use request for the RHS field house by the Russellville Parks and Recreation Department for a cookout by the 10 and 11 year-old Little League all-star teams
• adopted a new career/tech handbook
The board also made the following personnel moves:
• accepted Katie Wilkerson’s resignation as an English teacher at Russellville Middle School
• hired Deanna Hollimon as the assistant principal at West Elementary
• hired Linda Harper as a part-time Title I reading coach at Russellville Elementary
• hired Billy Hugh Johnston as a science teacher at Russellville Middle School
• approved LaTonya Lawler and Tiffany Watkins as substitutes
• approved Bryant Bonds, Butch Harkness, Corey Flanagan and Matthew Humphries as volunteer football assistant coaches
• approved Richard Graham and William Harvey as volunteer assistant basketball coaches
• approved Alan Rickard, Gayla Watkins and Chris Willis as volunteer assistant softball coaches.
