Mid-South Home Health in Russellville held a CPR certification class yesterday in an effort to help educate the public on what to do in the event of an emergency.
"The class is open to anyone in the public who would like to learn CPR." Jenny Pace, a registered nurse at Mid-South Home Health, said.
The class is offered at the cost of $2, which goes to cover the cost of the certification card, Pace said.
"We only charge what it costs us to have the class so that everyone can have the opportunity to learn CPR," Pace said.
The three-hour course consists of a video from the American Heart Association, practicing compressions and learning about choking. The class covers adult, pediatric and infant CPR.
"The certification is good for two years, and then re-certification is required," Pace said.
Pace tries to offer a CPR class every month to keep medical professionals and other individuals up to date on their certification.
"We usually have five to 10 participants in each class depending on who needs the certification," Pace said.
The CPR certification is one of the many services, such as blood pressure screenings for senior citizens, offered to the public at little or no cost by Mid-South Home Health.
"If I can save one life by offering these classes and screenings, it is worth it to me," Pace said.
