FMO asking for holiday help

By Staff

The Faith Mission Outreach in downtown Russellville has helped countless local residents in its short existence by providing food, clothing and shelter, when needed.
The mission relies on support from local businesses, churches and individuals to provide goods that are distributed through the ministry.
This Christmas season, FMO director Matthew Mangino is asking for help from the community to provide Christmas gifts for area children.
For the second consecutive year, a dove tree has been placed in the front window of the mission and at businesses throughout the area. The doves are symbols of children and families who are being supported by the gifts made to the mission.
Mangino is asking for people to donate $10-$15 gifts.
Once the gifts are wrapped and dropped off at one of the designated locations, you receive a dove off of the tree that includes a child's sex and age as a reminder of the gift.
The gifts will be given out to children 17-and-under at the mission's second annual Christmas banquet on Dec. 21 at 6 p.m.
In addition to the mission doves, adopt-a-family doves are also available.
These doves are given out to those who donate 2-3 gifts per family.
Volunteers will actually deliver the family gifts to their homes.
There are several drop off points throughout the area, including the YMCA in Russellville, Colonial Bank, Gold Kist, Cherry Hill Baptist Church, Southern Rural Health Care, Citizen's Bank, Wal-Mart and Faith Mission Outreach.
All gifts need to be turned in by Dec. 17.
For more information, call the mission at 331-GIVE.
