A Franklin County man is being held without bond after being arrested in connection with the theft of prescription drugs.
Sheriff Larry Plott said Tony Welborn, 21, of 89 Sutton Lane in Spruce Pine, was arrested and charged with second-degree theft of property and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. He is also being held on felony probation violation warrants.
Investigators said the case against Welborn stemmed from the theft of prescription medication from a home on Franklin county road 126 around Thanksgiving.
Welborn was picked up for questioning about the theft of the medicine, and he confessed his involvement to investigators. In the process, officers found outstanding probation violation warrants.
Welborn is currently being held without bond in the Franklin County Jail.
