Creel set to take job as Red Bay chief

Red Bay's new police chief is ready to go to work for the city.
Chief Pat Creel was hired to replace former chief Reb Boatwright who was not re-appointed to the job when the new city council took office in October.
Creel, who has served as the police chief in Winfield for the past four years and has been in law enforcement for almost 29 years, said that he is looking forward to the job that he will officially begin on Dec. 1.
Though Creel will not officially begin his duties in Red Bay until next week, he was in town Friday taking care of some matters and getting the chance to see the department first hand.
Creel becomes the second chief of police to take over a new department in Franklin County in recent weeks.
Chris Hargett assumed the role of police chief in Russellville in early November, filling the void left by retiring chief Donnie McGuire, who left the department after 19 years as chief in September.
