New school board members sworn in

The Franklin County board of education has some new faces for the first time in a few years.
New board members Donald Borden and T.J. Bragwell were sworn in during Tuesday night's special meeting.
Borden and Bragwell will both be serving their first term on the board.
Borden, who serves as principal of Haleyville High School, defeated incumbent Billy Wilson in the June primary.
Bragwell is taking the seat vacated by former board member Randy Hargett who chose not to seek re-election.
The board also re-appointed Randy Hester as chairman and Lavell Mayfield as vice-chairperson.
In other business, superintendent Bill Moss said that he hopes the board will receive its share of Section 16 money at the end of the current fiscal year.
The county system will receive approximately $761,000.
Another $1.8 million from a Section 16 lawsuit should arrive no later than Jan. 24, if not before.
In other action, the board also approved field trips for the Belgreen High School seniors to Tishomingo State Park on Nov. 30 and for the Red Bay football team to the Capital One Bowl in Orlando, Fla., on Dec. 30-Jan. 2.
The board also accepted the resignations of Kristy Smith as Even Start teacher's aide at Red Bay, Jean Fisher as clerical worker at Tharptown and Stephanie Pruitt as part-time CNP assistant at Tharptown.
