The Bonita Lakes Development Authority is contributing $1,000 to help spur the development of the Southern Arts and Entertainment Center.
Emmett Mitcham, chairman of the BLDA, told board members at a meeting Tuesday that the money would be given to the Southern Arts and Entertainment Center's committee.
BLDA committee members were appointed by Meridian Mayor John Robert Smith.
Mitcham said he hopes the money will help get the multi-million-dollar center at Bonita Lakes moving.
No one from the Southern Arts and Entertainment Committee showed up at the meeting to receive the check.
Two years ago, the Mississippi Legislature tabbed Meridian's Bonita Lakes as the site for the statewide arts center. The center, though, has yet to receive the needed state funding.
