3 races in GOP primary

RUSSELLVILLE — Franklin County has three contested Republican Primary races — sheriff, coroner and all five-candidate commission race.

The list of candidates who have qualified to run for office in the May 19 primaries in Alabama includes no Democratic candidates in county positions in Franklin and Colbert counties, other than party executive committee spots. Following is a look at the GOP primary races for the county:

Franklin

• Sheriff: Shannon Oliver-R, Brian Shackleford-R

• County Commission District 1: Curtis Baker-R, Jeff Fleming-R, Judson Miles Gaston-R, Grayson Murray-R, Joseph Shane Norton-R

• Revenue Commissioner: Stratt Byars-R

• Coroner: Charlie Adcox-R, Jeff Clark-R

• Board of Education District 3: Pat Cochran-R
