3 facilities use requests approved

RUSSELLVILLE — The Russellville City Schools Board of Education recently approved three facility use requests.

Board members approved a request from Band Director Jeremy Willis for the RHS Marching Hundred to host the Northwest Alabama Honor Band on Jan. 9–10 and Jan. 16–17 in the RCS Auditorium and Fine Arts Building.

Board members also approved Willis’ request to host the Alabama Bandmasters Association District 3 Honor Band on Feb. 13–14 in the same facility.

And requests from the varsity boys and girls basketball programs to host TVBA youth basketball games in the Russellville Middle School gym was also approved. The dates include Dec. 6, Jan. 10, 17, 21 and 31, and Feb. 26 through March 1 for the TVBA regional tournament.

In other action board members:

• Approved 2025–26 athletic schedules for basketball, indoor track and scholars bowl. The board’s action included authorization for outof- state and overnight travel listed in the agenda. Teams, cheerleaders and sponsors will travel by bus or other approved vehicles.

• Approved revised salary schedules for extended contracts, coaching supplements and extracurricular incentives.

• Adopted textbooks for career and technical education for 2025–2026. The adoption followed the State Textbook Law, which allows local boards to adopt CTE materials not included on the state textbook list. The RCS Textbook Committee reviewed the materials and recommended adoption.

• Approved a leave of absence for Sydney Scott, a teacher at West Elementary, from Nov. 3 to Jan. 20.

• Approved the retirement of Sandra Clark, a child nutrition worker at Russellville Elementary, effective Jan. 1.

• Approved a leave of absence of up to 12 weeks for Robin Fugate, a child nutrition worker at Russellville Elementary.

• Approved the retirement of Joey Pruett, a custodianatRussellville Middle School, effective Dec. 31.
