Nettie Sue Murray

Nettie Sue Murray, 75, of Russellville, went to be with the Lord Jan.18.
She was born Sept. 10, 1932, to John and Bessie Henson Wimberly in Franklin County.
She was a native of Russellville and a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Jan. 20 at Pinkard Funeral Home with burial in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Russellville with Bro. Stanley Hargett and Bro. Willard Saint officiating.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are husband, Johnie Murray, of Russellville; daughter, Sue Ann Jones and husband, David, of Phil Campbell; sons, Arrie Murray and wife, Vicki, of Russellville and Curtis Murray and wife, Candy, of Birmingham; brother, James Wimberly, of Rogersville; special sister-in-law, Marceil Waldrep, of Russellville; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers include Jeff Murray, Kenneth Murray, Kevin Murray, Jonathan "J.J." Jones, Terry Ritch, Shannon Inmon and Glen Roberson.
We know those who are in Christ never see each other for the last time. The Lord is our strength and song.
J.W. "Mutt" Russell

J.W. "Mutt" Russell, 86, of Phil Campbell, passed away Jan. 18 at Lakeland Hospital.
Funeral services were held Jan. 22 at Mt. View Baptist Church with Rev. Sammy Taylor officiating. Burial followed in Mt. View Cemetery.
Pallbearers were deacons of Mt. View Baptist Church.
He is survived by son, Mike Russell and wife, Susan, of Phil Campbell; daughters, Paulette Cole and husband, Tony, of Texas and Betty Petrie and husband, Danny, of Arkansas; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; three sister-in-laws; two brother-in-laws and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Mae (Brown) Russell; father, Paul James Russell; mother, Minnie Jane (Wilson) Russell; son, J.W. Russell; three brothers and four sisters.
A.C. "Bo" Dyer
January 17, 2008
A.C. "Bo" Dyer, 67, of Red Bay, died Jan. 17 at his home.
He was born Jan. 19, 1940 to Lester and Pearl Robinson Dyer. He was an employee of Heil Corporation for 10 years and a member of Red Bay Church of Christ.
Funeral services were held Jan. 20 at Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay with Turner Paseur officiating. Burial followed in Ridge Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Dyer; brothers, Ralph Dyer, of Savannah, Tenn., James Dyer (Melba), of Golden, Miss. and Wendell Dyer (Sandra), of Jasper and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Josh Stacy, Derek Stacy, Christopher Bishop, Keith Bishop, Vance Bishop and Bruce Bishop.
Pearl Sartain Powers
Funeral services for Pearl Sartain Powers were held at Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay Jan. 20.
Pearl was born in Dennis, Miss. on Oct. 28, 1910 and is preceded in death by her husband Clyde Powers; father, Lee Sartain; mother, Lucy Campbell Sartain and 12 brothers and sisters.
She has one brother, Howard (Virginia) Sartain in Chattanooga, Tenn., a son Paul (Carol) in Opelika and a daughter, Jan (Ray, deceased) Correll, in Somerset, Kent.
She also has nine grandchildren, Karla Correll, in Somerset, Roxann Correll, Steve (Lisa) Correll and Drew (Dawn) Correll, in Cincinnati.
The Powers grandchildren are Mara (Hayes) McKay, in Dothan, Beth (Allen) Barks, Paul Jr. (Janet) and Gretchen (Kenny) Hood, in Opelika and Rory in New York City. Pearl leaves 19 wonderful great-grandchildren.
Peal lived the last 25 happy years near Jan in Somerset, where she was a faithful member of Beacon Hill Baptist Church. But some of her most pleasant years were spent growing up on her father's farm in Dennis. She also had fond memories raising her family and serving in the retail business in Red Bay.
She started working for Mrs. Barham in her store in about 1936. The last years of her retail career were spent in Pearl's Fabric Shop, which she managed until about 1982. Serving her customers and friends was a great joy in her life and those wonderful memories gave her pleasure throughout her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to First Baptist Church in Red Bay or to Hospice.
Prue Mitchell Nichols

Prue Mitchell Nichols, 86, of Vina, passed away Jan. 13 at Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing Home. Like the shepherds of old, she quietly folded her tent and moved on to a better place.
Born July 31, 1921 in Franklin County to James and Sarah Nichols Mitchell, she was a seamstress at Blue Bell for 30 years and was a member of Red Bay Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oran Nichols and her parents.
Prue was an unselfish caregiver, always taking care of her immediate and extended family as noted by her niece, Helen Taylor, who penned these words following her passing: :She stood by me in so many ways. Her door was always open when I knocked. Her arms were always open when I cried. Her heart was always tender when I needed help."
She is survived by son, Dwight Nichols (Betty), of Gatlinburg; daughters, Sarah Duren (Ralph), of Vina, Judy Perrigin (Gerald), of Florence; brother, Foy Mitchell, of Vina; grandchildren, Carla Duren, Shane Nichols (Michelle), Keith Duren (Tanya), Ty Nichols (Deanna), Starla Farris, Krisenda Black (Pete) and Teleia Nichols; great-grandchildren, Tyler Nichols, Shantell Nichols, Tanner Nichols, Asia Duren, Iva Duren, Kaleb Black, Kolby Black, Logan Berretta and Casey Stinnett and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Jan. 16 at Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay with Tim Ingram and Dr. Rex Manasco officiating. Burial followed in Single Springs Cemetery in Vina.
Pallbearers were grandsons and great-grandsons.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing Home Station No. 2 for their loving care.
Ann Huguley

Ann Huguley, 68, of Vina died Jan. 15.
She was born Aug. 29, 1939 to Carnie and Lonie Massey Newton in Franklin County. After graduating from Vina High School in 1957, she pursued her childhood ambition of a career in nursing. Upon receiving her Registered Nurse Degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, she enjoyed a 30-year career in nursing before retiring from her position as Head Start School Nurse in the Tuscumbia City School System.
September 8, 1962, she entered a loving and lasting marriage with her husband, Lewis Huguley. Through those 45 years, they both enjoyed church, family, friends and community.
She was a member of the Red Bay Free Will Baptist Church where her special love was children's ministries. She was also an active member of the Burnout Homemaker's Club and served on the Board of Directors for Sparks Cemetery.
Funeral services were held Jan. 19 at Red Bay Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Mark McCraney and Stephen Cantrell officiating.
Burial followed in Sparks Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jeremy Robinson, David Corum, Jason Vinson, Dale Raper, Tim Butts, Stephen Cantrell, Jeff Madden and Eric Raper.
Survivors include her husband, Lewis Huguley, of Vina; daughter, Elizabeth Higgins and husband, Travis, of Russellville; son, Jeff Huguley and wife, Meleah Nelson Huguley, of Arab; sister, Gerlda Brown (Clarence), of Vina; brother, Lowell Newton (Pat), of Huntsville; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Sparks Cemetery Fund c/o Jane Edwards, 2391 Highway 25, Vina AL, 35593.
John Wilson

John Wilson, 60, of Spruce Pine, passed away Jan. 20.
Funeral services will be held Jan. 23 at 1 p.m. at Akins Funeral Home in Russellville.
Burial will follow at Franklin Memory Gardens with Bro. Jim Lumpkin officiating.
He was a heavy equipment operator and a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. He was in the U.S. Air Force and a veteran of the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Winona, of Spruce Pine; sons, Rob King and wife, Melanie, of Russellville, Joe King and wife Lynn, of Obion, Tenn., Daniel Wilson, of Spruce Pine, Harv Drewery, of Russellville; mother, Betty Wilson, of Russellville; grandchildren, Dylan Pounders, Sebastian King, Michael Drewery, all of Russellville.
He was preceded in death by her father, John C. Wilson; grandparents, Albert and Viola Wilson, Wade and Annie Mae Harrison and brother, J.C. Wilson.
Pallbearers will be Don Oliver, Ryce Romine, Billy Gibson, Donny Thomas, Billy Smith, Willard Hill and David Isom.
Raleigh H. Olive

Raleigh Harris Olive, age 72, Russellville, Alabama passed away Jan. 21 at his home.
He was a native of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, but had lived in Franklin County for the past 60 years. He was a member of North Highlands Church of Christ, Russellville and retired from Reynolds Metals Company.
The funeral will be Jan. 23 at at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville with burial in Knights of Pythias Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Survivors include wife, Peggy Pickett Olive, Russellville, Alabama; daughter, Suzanne Olive Blum and husband, Michael, Birmingham, Alabama, Joanna Olive Lewis and husband Steve, Alexander City, Alabama; sister, Deborah Olive
Logan, Tucker, Georgia; grandchildren, Jordan Korte, Landon Korte, Adeline Lewis, Alexandra Blum, Catherine Blum, Caroline Blum; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by father, Raleigh Harris; mother, Irene N. Olive.
