HATTIESBURG Authorities are waiting for final autopsy and toxicology reports in the death of a Meridian man who was found unconscious outside a fraternity house on the University of Southern Mississippi campus.
Former USM student Sammy N. Broadhead, 25, had been attending an alumni reunion at the Sigma Nu Fraternity house on Friday, said USM spokeswoman Lisa Mader.
Broadhead apparently went outside at some point during the party and was found at about 11:30 p.m. on the porch by Sigma Nu member Marcus Jones, officials said.
Broadhead was taken by ambulance to Forrest General Hospital where he died, said county Coroner Butch Benedict.
Mader said Broadhead's body was sent to the Mississippi Mortuary in Pearl for an autopsy. The death is being investigated by the USM Police Department and the Forrest County Coroner.
Benedict expects final test results by Thursday or Friday.
Broadhead graduated from the university in 2002 and was employed at the Citizens Bank branch office in Meridian. His funeral is today at the First Baptist Church in Meridian.
