Boy Scouts tourney shortened by rain

Steve Hampton and Andy Mayatt won the Boy Scouts Benefit Golf Tournament without a struggle when rain washed out Sunday afternoon's final round at Briarwood Country Club.
Hampton and Mayatt shot a 14-under par 58 on Saturday to take a four-stroke win over the team of Kelly Swain and Earl Aycock.
Hampton and Mayatt had two eagles and 10 birdies in Saturday's round.
Swain and Aycock had an eagle and eight birdies.
Four teams tied for third place at 63. They are Dan Sollie and Robbie Garrett, Willie Frazier and Mike Easterwood, Scotty Elliot and Daniel Boles, and Randy Warden and his partner.
Marcus Willis and Kevin Stone shot a 64 to take seventh place, while Rodney Scarborough and Sammy Broadhead placed eighth with a 65.
In the father-son division, Eddie Brown and Nick Brown won by one stroke over the team of Joel Nelson and James Nelson. The Browns shot a 62, while the Nelsons had a 63. In third place at 65 is the team of George Polizzi and Tony Polizzi.
In the seniors division, which played from the gold tees, Don Bounds and Dennis Foster shot an 11-under par 61 to take a four-stroke win over Tootie Ellis and his partner. In third place with a 66 is the team of Lamar McClelland and Lynn Limerick.
