Wildcat boys pick up two wins over Vina

The Tharptown Wildcats picked up two wins over county rival Vina last week, 2-1 and 4-2.

Britton Kennamore struck out seven batters and allowed one hit and one run to lead the Wildcats past the Red Devils 2-1. Kennamore was also 1-for-3 at the plate and scored a run.

Jackson Clement went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Hunter Motes put the Wildcats on the board first in the top of the second inning on a wild pitch. Jackson Landers tied the game for Vina, scoring on a wild pitch.

Kennamore later scored on the RBI-single by Clement.

Haze Weatherford took the loss for the Red Devils.

Jayden Mitchell went 2-for-3 and scored a run to lead Tharptown past Vina 4-2.

The Wildcats took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning on scores by Blake Daily and Hunter White.

Vina tied the game 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Tharptown got the runs to win the game in the top of the seventh inning on back-to-back scores by Mitchell and Clement.

Earlier in the week, Tharptown lost to Hackleburg 7-6. The Wildcats fell behind 7-1 and made a late comeback effort, scoring five runs in the seventh inning.
