Ronnie McDowell takes Roxy stage March 16
It’s countdown time to the Ronnie McDowell concert at the Historic Roxy Theatre. This Saturday the show will begin at 7 p.m.
McDowell’s fundraising concerts, for more than two decades, have benefited the Roxy Theatre, the Chamber of Commerce and the local economy.
The Arts Council’s theme for the show is the 200th Bicentennial Celebration of Franklin County, the City of Russellville and the Great State of Alabama. The theatre will be decorated acknowledging this milestone for the city, county and state.
From 2017-2019, ALABAMA 200 has engaged residents and visitors in educational programs, community activities and statewide initiatives that teach, inspire, and entertain. This event is one way the Roxy aims to support the ALABAMA 200 historic endeavor.
McDowell will be recognized for his contributions in promoting this area through many of his performances and artistic talent.
To kick the show off, well-known local musical talents Joseph Baldwin and Jacob Green will present the pre-show entertainment. Baldwin was winner of the Alabama Tourism Department’s Alabama Year of Music Songwriters Contest and has performed at various festivals throughout Alabama and surrounding states. Green has been playing the guitar since he was 10 and singing since he was 13, and he has performed for numerous community activities, including at the Roxy with The KGB and the W.C. Handy Great Pretenders Show.
