TES elects ambassadors
Every year Tharptown Elementary School elects a new group of ambassadors to represent the
school. Nov. 9 the 2018-19 ambassadors were selected and sworn in.
“We are pleased to welcome them and look forward to a wonderful year of service and
fellowship with them,” Principal Kelby Daniel said.
This year’s ambassadors are President Kyleigh Bryant, Vice President Harlee Fisher, Secretary
Cortney Smith, sixth-grade representatives Abilene Tyler and Savanna Hopkins and fifth-grade
representatives Kimberly Flores, Miranda Gutierrez Gamarro and Leonela Vela Jacquez.
To become an ambassador, each student has to have a high overall grade point average and an
excellent attendance record. They must also be evaluated by their teachers, submit a written
report and win the votes of the student body.
“Our ambassadors have a shared interest in service. They help organize and facilitate service
projects that benefit our school, our families and the community,” counselor Susan McRight
said.
Some examples of their responsibilities are helping with the awards ceremony, selling Christmas
trees, shopping for the Angel Tree and volunteering in the community. Some of the character
traits they strive to uphold are trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and
citizenship.
