Four charged with armed robbery

Four Russellville residents were arrested this weekend after being accused of breaking into a trailer and robbing the victims at gunpoint, officials said.

Tosha Shante Saint, 17, 2604 Franklin 60, Russellville; Sarah Elizabeth Mayfield, 24, 2460 Franklin 60, Russellville; Terrance Obrian Newell, 23, 111 Filmore St., Russellville; and Derell Jamar Bates, 22, 103 Mines St., Russellville were all charged with first-degree robbery.

Bates was additionally charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and second-degree possession of marijuana.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver, the sheriff’s office received a 911 call about 2 a.m. on Sunday stating there were four people who had entered a residence at Town and Country Trailer Park on Alabama 24 in Russellville.

Oliver said the victims stated the four suspects allegedly entered the residence with pistols and rifles and forced them to give up any money or cell phones in the residence.

Oliver said one of the male suspects was reported to have shot his pistol in the air in an attempt to threaten the victims to comply.

After receiving the money and phones, the suspects fled the residence, but Oliver said the two females were pulled over shortly after the incident on U.S. 43.

“Further investigation in this case over the weekend led to the arrest of the two males involved in the robbery,” Oliver said. “We’re just glad to have these individuals off the street and in custody.”

The Russellville Police Department assisted the FCSO in this case.

All four defendants are currently in custody at the Franklin County Jail.
