Odis Strickland, 93, of Red Bay, Ala. died Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Southern Magnolia Estates, Golden, Miss. He was a native of Carollton, Ga. and a mechanic at Sunshine Mills for thirty years. He was a member of Antioch Church, Phil Campbell, Ala. and a Mason with Phil Campbell Lodge. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 18, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, Ala. with Bro. Jerry George officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Red Bay, Ala.
He is survived by three children, Clara Hester and husband, Kelly, and Don Strickland and wife, Sherry, all of Red Bay, Ala. and Kaye Fennell and husband, James, Golden, Miss.; daughter-in-law, Glinda Strickland, of Red Bay, Ala.; half-brother, Lonnie Strickland, of Phil Campbell, Ala.; half-sister, Janice Sutton, of Phil Campbell, Ala.; eight grandchildren, Shonnia Lancaster, Tracy Mobley, Greg Strickland, Carey Bohannon, Jeff Strickland, Jana Pharr, Sandy McCoy and Rodney Strickland; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Othel Strickland; son, Billy Strickland; and his parents, James and Dora Stamps Strickland.
Pallbearers were Greg Strickland, Jeff Strickland, Rodney Strickland, David Lancaster, Wesley Bohannon and Wayne Frederick.
