Melvin J.C. Nix, 90, of Phil Campbell, Ala. passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at his residence.
He lived his entire life in Franklin County and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Phil Campbell. He was a business owner in Phil Campbell for 30 years.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 20, 2011 at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville with Tim Haney and Jerome Sherrill officiating. Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery at Liberty Hill.
He is survived by his children, Larry E. Nix and wife, Judy, Vic Nix and wife, Pam, all of Phil Campbell, Debra Hamrick and husband, Eddie, of Haleyville; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Daniel Hamrick, Ryan Dorr, Bryan James, Matt Nix, Dusty Nix, Matthew Thomas and Kolby Hamrick.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Nix; son, Chris M. Nix; brothers, Horace Nix, Boss Nix, Ed Nix, Leon Nix; sisters, Tressie Mashburn, Grace Woodruff, Macie McDonald, Lillie Peden and Agnes Hargett.
