Johnnie L. Hayes, 79, a loving father, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at ECM Hospital.
He was a Korean War Veteran. He raised his family while living for 25 years in Pontiac, Michigan where he retired from Ford Wixon Assembly plant. In 1983 he returned to Alabama, where he spent his retirement building houses.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Caldonia Hayes; loving wife, Louise Hayes; son, Johnnie Hayes; daughter Denice Hayes; and a sister.
He is survived by his daughters, Carolyn Tharp and husband, Gary, Linda Hendon and husband, Donnie, Rebecca Hayes, Rana Terry and husband, Bennie, Joni Rock and husband, Bill, of Leighton, Ala., Patricia Hayes, of Texas; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, J.W. Hayes and wife, Irene, of Florence, David Hayes and wife, Patricia, of Florida; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Faith Rogers.
He wished to be cremated with a graveside memorial service at Shaw Cemetery, Leighton, Alabama. The time will be announced by the family.
