Owen Wayne Cansler, 65, of Spruce Pine, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011 at Spruce Pine Cemetery with Bro. Jim Poss and Bro. Andy Cansler officiating. Spry Funeral Home assisted the family.
He was preceded in death by parents, Neal and Pauline Cansler; brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Minnie Cansler.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Vivian Cansler; children, Teresa Clark and husband, James, Gina Cain and husband, Steve, Cyndee Patterson and husband, Doug, Mike Shivers and wife, Cindy, Cheryl Cansler and husband, Keith; 13 grandchildren, Corey, Melissa, Megan, Candi, Jordan, Bubba, Jim, Josh, “Little Man”, Kayla, Ashley, Justin, Rachel; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Buell Cansler; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff at UAB Hospital.
