John Howard Taylor
John Howard Taylor, 74, Belgreen, passed away October 4, 2010. He was born March 4, 1936 in Belgreen, Alabama to the late James Horace and Clara Barber Taylor. He graduated from Belgreen High School in 1954 and was employed by Reynolds Metals Company for over 32 years. He was a faithful member of the Belgreen Church of Christ congregation and a dedicated community worker. He was a cancer survivor, started the Belgreen volunteer fire department where he served as fire chief for over 20 years and worked with the Franklin County Water Authority to ensure access to clean water for all Franklin County residents. He loved to travel and listen to bluegrass and gospel music.
A celebration of his life will be held at Spry Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, Oct 6 at 2:00 PM. Officiating at the service will be Bro. Jackie Richardson and Bro. Cecil Cox. Burial will be at Belgreen Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Keith Taylor; brothers, Robert Taylor, Jack Taylor, Leon Taylor, Joe Taylor; and sister, Grace Bailey.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann Hester Taylor, daughters Kathy Taylor Hargett and husband Dennis of Killen, and Cindy Taylor Fleming and husband Gary Don of Belgreen, grandchildren, Emily Fleming Blanton and husband Casey of Tremont, MS, Jonathan Paul Fleming of Starkville, MS, Whitney Nicole Hargett of Killen, and a very special great-granddaughter, Chloe Elexis Blanton. He also leaves behind special sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and a host of dear friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lynn Ridgeway, Dr. Brad McAnally, Dr. Chad Mathis, Hospice of the Shoals, Scofields, Spry Memorial Chapel, and their staffs for all the kindness.
