Russellville JV falls to Hartselle
HARTSELLE — The Russellville junior varsity football team opened its season with a tough loss Monday, falling to rival Hartselle 22-0.
Hartselle opened the scoring with a touchdown in the second quarter to take a 6-0 lead and added two more scores in the third quarter.
Russellville’s offense struggled, managing only 99 yards of total offense. Jamarius Qualls had the best game for the Golden Tigers by rushing for 45 yards.
Russellville completed 4-of-5 passes for 33 yards.
The defense had a few highlights with Jordan Gist forcing a fumble and Zane Pounders recovering a fumble. Jessie Vincent had an interception for the Golden Tigers.
Russellville’s next game is Sept. 13 at home against Athens.
