Couple charged with making meth

A Franklin County couple was taken into custody Tuesday after officers found methamphetamine and items used for producing meth in their vehicle and at their residence in Hodges.

Angela Gray

Investigators said James Edward Gray, 45, and Angela Gray, 42, both of 1870 Alabama 172, Apartment 26, Hodges, are both charged with attempted first-degree unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance.

Authorities said Angela Gray is also charged with second-degree unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance and her husband, James, also faces first-degree theft of property and attempting to elude charges.

Investigators said several boxes of medication containing the main ingredient in meth production, pseudo ephedrine, were confiscated during a traffic stop involving Angela Gray’s vehicle.

Authorities said the traffic stop led investigators on a trail to the couple’s residence in Hodges where a small amount of meth and other components used in the production process were found.

Investigators said upon investigating the residence, James Gray attempted to escape on a stolen four-wheeler.

Authorities said after a short chase, law enforcement officials were able to catch James Gray and made the arrest.

The sheriff’s office and Russellville police collaborated together to make the arrests.

The couple is being held at the Franklin County Jail.
