County board makes several personnel moves

The Franklin County board of education took care of a number of housekeeping issues Thursday as they made plans for the upcoming school year.

The board awarded the bid for diesel fuel to Tatum Oil, Inc., as the lowest responsible bidder at $2.029 per gallon effective through June 30, 2011.

They also awarded the following child nutrition program bids: bread to Sara Lee, ice cream to Blue Bell, milk to Purity and approved a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama dental coverage change agreement.

The board also made the following personnel moves:

• accepted Orval Seay’s retirement as Franklin County career/tech director

• accepted Vickie Farris’ retirement from Tharptown School

• renewed Vina principal James Pharr’s contract

• transferred Donna Wells from special education teacher at Phil Campbell High School to Phil Campbell Elementary

• transferred Linda Smith from special education aide at Phil Campbell High School to East

• transferred Tracy Holaway from special education teacher at Tharptown Elementary to Phil Campbell High School

• transferred Brooke Robbins from special education teacher at Tharptown High School to half time at Tharptown Elementary and THS

• transferred Tori Bendall from Phil Campbell elementary teacher to librarian

• transferred Mary Ann Malone from special education aide at Phil Campbell Elementary to school secretary at Phil Campbell High School

• transferred Connie Funderburk from janitorial position at Red Bay High School to special education aide with nursing certification at Red Bay School

• transferred Herbert Trulove from agri-science teacher at Red Bay High School to director/evaluation coordinator of the Franklin County Career Technical Center

• hired Laura Guidry as half-time special education teacher, half-time special education aide at Phil Campbell High School

• hired Ladonna Baty as a half-time special education aide at Vina

• hired Patsy Barnes as a part-time temporary special education aide at Phil Campbell Elementary

• hired Kim Witten as a special education aide at Phil Campbell Elementary

• hired Brittany Sykes as an elementary teacher at Phil Campbell Elementary

• hired Jonathan King as an agri-science teacher at Phil Campbell High School

• hired Amber Downey as an English teacher to split time between East Franklin and the career/tech center

• hired Michelle Kent as an elementary teacher at Tharptown Elementary

• hired Cassie Wisdom as an elementary teacher at Vina

• hired Shea Miller as a half-time elementary teacher at Vina

• hired Bryna Lawler as a distance-learning aide at Vina

• accepted Nelda Moss’ resignation as varsity cheerleader sponsor at Phil Campbell High School

• hired Theresa Garrard as junior varsity cheerleader sponsor at Phil Campbell High School

• hired Lorie Dorroh as varsity cheerleader sponsor at Phil Campbell High School.
