Russellville’s base runners were able to get into scoring position a few times, but no of them could reach home until the final inning against Decatur.
Facing a 2-0 deficit heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, Alan Bohannon and T.J. Lindsey drew a pair of walks for the Golden Tigers.
J.T. Watkins’s sacrifice moved Bohannon to third and Lindsey to second.
Hunter Willis followed with an infield single in which he barely beat the throw to first. His hit allowed Bohannon to score.
Ryan Bowling then stepped to the plate and tripled to drive in Lindsey and Willis to put Russellville ahead 3-2.
Normally that would have been the end of the game, but both teams decided to play until Decatur could record the final out of the fifth inning.
Bowling later scored on a pass ball to push the lead to 4-2, but Russellville could not get another runner on base.
Decatur scored one run in the fourth and added another in the top of the fifth.
Bohannon picked up the win on the mound.
