PHIL CAMPBELL – Phil Campbell’s Lindsey Jackson struck out eight Red Bay batters, but the Lady Tigers were able to score three runs in the late innings to knock off the Lady Bobcats 7-3 to complete the season sweep of Phil Campbell (6-8, 4-2).
Red Bay (11-7, 2-1) scored a pair of runs in the top of the first inning when Taylor Hester singled and moved to second on a bunt single by Whitney Sharp. The two runners both advanced by steal to put runners at second and third with no outs.
Hester scored on a pass ball and Sharp scored on a sacrifice by Emily Cox.
Phil Campbell’s offense came to life in the bottom of the third inning.
Sarah Hester started the inning by drawing a walk and moved to second on a single by Whitley Yocom.
Amber Chaney then bunted and the throw to first base sailed wide allowing Sarah Hester and Yocom to score while Chaney advanced to third base. Chaney later scored on a sacrifice by Jackson to give the Lady Bobcats a 3-2 lead.
Red Bay reclaimed the lead in the fourth inning. Cox reached on a fielder’s choice, Hannah Sharp doubled and Lauren Pacetti singled to drive home Katie Harris who was the courtesy runner for Cox.
Hannah Sharp scored on an infield single by Mariah Horton.
“There was one inning where we made a couple of errors in the infield,” Red Bay coach Donnie Roberts said. “The girls did a good job of bouncing back and they got the lead back.”
Taylor Hester added to the Lady Tigers’ lead in the fifth inning when she reached base on a bunt, advanced to second and third on pass balls and scored when Cox reached base on a fielder’s choice.
The run extended Red Bay’s advantage to 5-3.

Harris scored the Lady Tigers’ final run on an infield single by Horton.
Cox retired the side during the bottom of the seventh inning to preserve the win for Red Bay.
“Red Bay is so fast. Once they get on base, they are stealing,” said Phil Campbell coach Darit Riddle. “There are a few little things we need to work on, but it’s nothing we can’t fix.”
Whitney Sharp and Hannah Sharp led the Lady Tigers with a double and a single each while Hester, Pacetti and Horton had two singles each.
Holly Hammock and Micala Dulaney both singled for Red Bay.
