Mission Outreach hosting holiday dinner

The months of November and December can be two of the most enjoyable and special of the year.
Thanksgiving and Christmas are supposed to be times of reflection and thankfulness. Time for joy and time for cheer, as the old song goes.
However, it can also be a depressing time for those who have troubles, grief or are simply lonely.
One area group plans to make the holidays a little easier.
Faith Mission Outreach in downtown Russellville is hosting a free Thanksgiving dinner on Nov. 25 for those in need and those who are spending the holidays alone.
This will be the second annual Thanksgiving dinner provided by the outreach and Mangino expects this year's to be larger than last.
The mission provides help to approximately 600 people each week, including 180 that are fed hot, home-cooked meals.
The mission receives no funding from the government because it would limit the ability to share the gospel message which takes place daily, including a worship service each Sunday.
The meal is free to the public and dine-in only, but those who plan to attend are asked to go by the mission and pick up a ticket. The stubs from the tickets will give an idea of how many meals to prepare.
The dinner will be served at 1 p.m. and will include turkey and dressing, green beans, creamed potatoes, cranberry sauce, bread and a dessert.
Mangino said that the dinner's intention is to provide a traditional Thanksgiving meal to those who might not otherwise have one.
