The 2004 edition of fast-pitch softball at Southeast Lauderdale will unfold this season with many young faces and one new face as the head tiger.
First year head coach Ronnie Raines takes over a program in only its fourth year of existence and expectations are very high for the season.
The Lady Tigers are returning a team that is full of youth and a small ounce of experience. Southeast returns only two seniors for this season and the team will feature six sophomores, which gives the team a very new look.
Lindsey Raines is one of the two seniors on the squad this season and will be expected to handle most of the pitching duties for the Lady Tigers. Raines will also see plenty of action behind the plate for Southeast. Madison Davis is the other senior on the roster this season and will return to play shortstop for the Lady Tigers.
In addition to Davis returning on the infield, Southeast also returns all of its starters at the rest of the defensive positions. Sophomore Lindsey Graham will start at third base and will also see some innings on the mound. Eighth grader Jessica Rose will take up the second base duties for Southeast and will see some action at pitcher.
Sophomore Heather Harper will start at first base to round out a solid returning infield for Southeast Lauderdale. Sophomore Elizabeth Bowen will be another key pitcher that Ranies may look on for some innings down the stretch for the Lady Tigers.
Southeast Lauderdale begins the 2004 season this weekend at Northeast Park in the Northeast Classic.
