Supervisors set to consider
new equipment purchase

The Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors will reconvene a recessed meeting Monday to consider a recommendation from county engineer Neal Carson to purchase equipment with a buy-back agreement.
Carson recommended supervisors accept a base bid of $168,951 from Puckett Machinery of Meridian for two motor graders used to level non-paved roads.
District 5 Supervisor Ray Boswell requested the recommendation be tabled until the board's scheduled Dec. 15 meeting, objecting that the other base bid received from Tubb Equipment &Rental Co. Inc. in Jackson, is cheaper at $143,915.
Carson asked that the meeting be recessed until Dec. 8. On Friday he said he will stick to his original recommendation.
Carson said the county has a current buy-back agreement contract with Puckett Machinery that ends this month.
Supervisors are also expected to consider authorizing a warranty deed to the city of Meridian for less than an acre of property within the Interstate 20/59 industrial park for construction of a water tower.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Monday in the board room of the Raymond P. Davis annex of the Lauderdale County courthouse.
