Lockheed Martin shooting probe goes to grand jury

A Lauderdale County grand jury is expected to hear results on Friday from an ongoing law enforcement probe of a July shooting at Lockheed Martin that left eight people dead.
Sheriff Billy Sollie said grand jurors will decide if the investigation is complete or if it should continue. If jurors are satisfied, Sollie said, he will discuss the probe publicly at a news conference next week.
Doug Williams, 48, a longtime Lockheed Martin employee, opened fire on fellow workers early in the morning of July 8 in one of the worst workplace shootings in Mississippi.
Williams killed seven people and injured eight others before taking his own life. Although armed with a 12-gauge pump shotgun and a .223-caliber semi-automatic rifle he only used the shotgun.
Sollie said he plans to take as much time as necessary to outline the investigation for the grand jury. Because of that, he said, the grand jury will "have an opportunity to see and hear a lot more than the general public.
