St. Paul's Chamber Series continues
St. Paul's Episcopal Church's Chamber Series continues Thursday at the parish house. The program begins at 12:05 p.m.
The performers will be Julie Maisel, who plays the baroque flute and John Paul, who plays the harpsichord.
Maisel is on the faculty of Millsaps College. She received her bachelor degree at the University of Southern Mississippi, and her master's degree and doctorate at Florida State University.
Paul has been the organist/choirmaster at St. Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral and Temple Beth Israel since moving to Jackson in 1965. He was educated at the Royal Academy of Music, the University of London and the University of Colorado.
Both are members of the Jackson-based Heinichen's Circle.'
They will play two selections written by Georg Friedrich Handel and another written by Michel Blavet.
Museum art auction planned for Nov. 3
The Meridian Museum of Art's 2001 Art Auction is set for Saturday, Nov. 3, at Union Station.
The auction combines a gala dinner with a chance to bid on a selection of artwork from some of the top artists in East Mississippi and West Alabama.

Symphony to perform Nov. 10
The Meridian Symphony Orchestra will present its second concert of the season Nov. 10.
The concert will begin at 8 p.m. at the McCain Theatre in Ivy Hall on the campus of Meridian Community College.
Dr. Claire Fox Hillard, maestro of the orchestra, will lead a pre-concert lecture and discussion of the evening program at 7 p.m. in the Casteel Gallery. 
The program for the evening will feature the MSO's principal trumpet player, Charles Gates, playing Haydn's Trumpet Concerto. 
The Emma McCain Endowment Fund makes his appearance as the featured guest artist possible.
The program also includes selections from Handel's "The Water Music" and Beethoven's symphony No. 3, "The Eroica."
