THS heads to Phillips

THARPTOWN — This week would be a great time for the Tharptown football team to earn its first ever victory against Phillips.

The Wildcats are 0-3 all time against the Bears, but more importantly, they are 0-1 in region play this season.

Both teams will be seeking a win to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot.

Tharptown opened region play last week with a 49-6 loss to Addison. Phillips lost to R.A. Hubbard 60-36.

This is not the Phillips team from recent years. Several key players have moved on and the offense is not nearly as potent, averaging only 25 points per game so far.

The Bear defense is also shaky. Phillips has given up 101 points in two games.

It could prove to be a good match up for Tharptown, which has only scored 12 points so far this season.

Both teams need this game, but only one will walk away with its first region win of the year.
