Red Bay scores area win over Sulligent

By Bart Moss / For the FCT

Hayden Murray led the way for the Red Bay Tigers in a 9-4 area win over the Sulligent Blue Devils last week.

Murray went three-for-four with four RBIs to power the Tigers to victory.

Red Bay took an early 1-0 lead on a pop fly single by Murray scoring Kolby Bragwell.

The Tigers scored four runs in the bottom of the third inning. Murray, again leading things off for Red Bay, had a two-RBI single into right field scoring Max Bullen and Skylar Brazil to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead. Bragwell scored on a passed ball to make it 4-0.

Cade McKinney scored on another passed ball later in the inning to give Red Bay a 5-0 lead.

Sulligent scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning to cut the Tigers’ lead to 5-2.

The Tigers had another big inning in the bottom of the fifth. Murray singled Bragwell for the second time in the game to give Red Bay a 6-2 lead. McKinney, Chase Allen and Bragwell all scored in the inning to extend the Tigers’ lead to 9-2.

Sulligent would add two more runs.

Murray also led the Tigers defense, pitching a complete game, allowing six hits and four runs and striking out four.
