Red Bay gets trio of wins

Red Bay 11, Vina 1

The Red Bay Tigers scored runs in all seven innings of their inter-county matchup with the Vina Red Devils, winning 11-1.

Kaleb Sims went two-for-four with three RBIs. Cade McKinney went two-for-four with an RBI and run scored. Chase Allen went two-for-three with an RBI and three runs scored.

Allen also struck out five batters from the mound. Red Bay sent six pitchers to the mound in the game, all combining to allow only two hits and strike out 13.

Hayden Murray went two-for-three and scored two runs. Alex Burroughs went two-for-two with two RBIs and scored a run. Max Bullen and Kolby Bragwell both had two hits each.

Red Bay scored two runs in the first inning, one in the second, three in the third, one in the fourth and fifth inning, two in the sixth and one in the seventh inning.

Vina scored their lone run in the bottom of the fourth.

Red Bay 16, Covenant Christian 6

Red Bay exploded for 12 runs in the third inning to run away from the Covenant Christian Eagle 16-6 last Tuesday.

Kolby Bragwell had a big day at the plate for Red Bay with runners on base. Bragwell drove in four runs on three hits to lead the Tigers. Bragwell brought runners home on a single in the third inning, a walk in the third and double in the fifth.

Bullen, Kolby Bragwell, Kaleb Bragwell, McKinney and Burroughs all had RBIs in the big third inning.

Skylar Brazil got the win for Red Bay pitching three and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and six runs while striking out five batters. Sims pitched the last inning and a third for the Tigers.

Red Bay had 13 hits in the game with Burroughs, Luke Rooker, Hayden Murray and Allen all having two hits each.

Bragwell scored four runs, Rooker scored three runs, and Burroughs and Bullen score two runs each.

Red Bay 17, Colbert County 9

Burroughs racked up four hits in the Red Bay Tigers’ 17-9 win over the Colbert County Indians Friday. Burroughs got two singles in a 10-run first inning, a single in the fourth and a single in the fifth.

The Tigers scored ten runs in the first inning, putting the game away early on. Colbert County scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning and one in the bottom of the third to cut Red Bay’s lead to 10-3.

Red Bay answered, scoring three runs in the top of the fourth inning to extend their lead to 13-3.

Colbert County made a push in the bottom of the fourth inning, cutting Red Bay’s lead to 13-9, but the Tigers responded by scoring four in the top of the fifth to put the game away.

Belmont 18, Red Bay 15

The bats were alive in a run-scoring bonanza between the Red Bay Tigers and Belmont Cardinals. Red Bay led Belmont 15-14 through five innings, but the Cardinals scored four runs in the top of the sixth to take an 18-15 win.

Red Bay led 1-0 after the first inning, but Belmont scored nine runs in the top of the third inning to take a 9-1 lead.

Red Bay scored five runs in the bottom half of the inning to cut Belmont’s lead to 9-6. Belmont added five runs in the top of the fifth inning to extend their lead to 14-6.

Red Bay scored nine runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 15-14 lead but gave up four in the sixth, costing the Tigers the lead and the game.

Bullen went two-for-two with two walks, three RBIs and two runs scored.
