Lady Bobcats top Lady Tigers

Caitlynn Mills was hot at the plate, racking up four hits in four at-bats, as the Phil Campbell Bobcats defeated the Red Bay Tigers 9-3 last Tuesday.
Mills singled in the first, singled in the second, singled in the fourth, and singled in the sixth to help lead the Bobcats to the win.
Phil Campbell was able to grab a big enough early lead to secure the win. The Bobcats led 4-1 after two innings.
Red Bay took the lead out of the gate in the first inning. With two outs in the top of the first inning, Lila Blackburn doubled in Jordynn MacKinney.
In the bottom of the first inning, Emily Swinney singled in Katie Thomas, and Caitlynn Mills scored on an error by the Tiger pitcher, to give the Bobcats a 2-1 lead. An inside-the-park home run by Chloe Roberson and a single by Mills scoring Thomas gave the Bobcats a 4-1 in the second inning.
Red Bay scored one run in the top of the fifth when Annalise Rogers singled off of Swinney to drive in Autumn Higginbottom.
The Bobcats got run back in the bottom of the fifth inning when Karley Ergle singled in Leeah Jackson to give the Bobcats a 6-2 lead. Phil Campbell scored three more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning when Olivia Taylor tripled in Thomas, Mills and Jackson to give the Bobcats a 9-3 lead.
Mills earned the win for Phil Campbell. She threw two and a third innings, giving up one run, four hits and no walks. Victoria Rodriguez took the loss for Red Bay. She pitched three innings, allowed four runs and six hits, struck out three and walked one.
Swinney started the game for Phil Campbell. She tossed four and two-thirds innings, giving up two runs and four hits. Knoblock started the game for Red Bay. She went three innings, allowed five runs and five hits and struck out four.
Phil Campbell had 11 hits in the game. Mills (4) and Thomas (2) each collected multiple hits for the Bobcats. Taylor led Phil Campbell with three runs batted in. She went 1-for-4 on the day.
Red Bay collected eight hits. McKinney, Rogers, and Blackburn each collected multiple hits for the Tigers.
