PHIL CAMPBELL – A local man has been airlifted to Huntsville Hospital after allegedly stabbing himself when sheriff’s deputies came to his residence to pick him up on an outstanding warrant, officials said.

Christopher Norman Trapp, 53, with a last known address of 2357 Broad St. in Phil Campbell, had an outstanding warrant for a probation violation, Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver said.

After being unable to locate Trapp, Oliver said he was placed on the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Most Wanted list.

Oliver said his office received information on Tuesday that Trapp was staying in a secluded cabin off Scout’s Hollow Road in Phil Campbell.

“Around 11 a.m., deputies went to the residence to serve the outstanding warrants,” Oliver said.

“Mr. Trapp was apparently outside when the car pulled up and he ran into the house.

“When the deputies went to locate Trapp, they discovered he had gone into the residence and had apparently stabbed himself in the chest with a knife.”

Oliver said officers removed the weapon, secured the area, and notified emergency medical personnel.

“Once the medical personnel got to the house, they ended up having to airlift him from the scene to Huntsville Hospital.”

Oliver said units would be dispatched to the hospital and Trapp will be under guarded condition.

At press time, Trapp’s condition was not immediately available.
