Tigers fall 20-14

RED BAY — Red Bay’s attempt to rally fell short for the second week in a row when a game winning drive stalled on the Colbert Heights 30-yard line, allowing the Wildcats to run out the clock and secure the 20-14 victory.

Colbert Heights (3-0, 2-0) opened the game with touchdown run around the right side after a Tiger turnover on their second play.

Red Bay (1-2, 0-2) answered two minutes later on an 85-yard drive that took only four plays.

Chase Lindsey scored on a 3-yard run and added the point-after-kick to tie the game 7-7.

Colbert Heights scored again near the end of the first quarter on a 10-yard pass to regain the lead 14-7.

The Tigers were driving for another touchdown in the third quarter, but the drive ended when the Wildcats intercepted a pass in their own end zone.

The Wildcats added another score in the fourth, but missed the point after for a 20-7 lead.

Red Bay quarterback Hunter Childers connected with Dmitri Humphrey down the left side for a 40-yard touchdown pass. Lindsey added the extra point, which left the tigers trailing 20-14 with less than five minutes remaining in the game.

After forcing Colbert Height to punt, the Tigers started their final drive on their own 40-yard line with 1:44 remaining in the game.

Red Bay travels to Lamar County next week.
