Quinn's Ranch to host Bama greats golf tourney

RED BAY – Former and current University of Alabama greats are visiting Red Bay July 14 to raise money for Quinn's Ranch.
"Quinn's Ranch is a children's home for abused, abandoned, neglected, orphaned or homeless children," ranch director Shea Lowery said. "Our special guest is former Alabama coach Ray Perkins, and there will be a luncheon and keynote speaker during the tournament."
The ranch is hosting its second annual "Alabama Greats Golf Tournament" at Redmont Country Club in Red Bay. Tee times are available for morning or afternoon, and the cost for a 4-man scramble is $300 per team, or $400 to play with a celebrity.
Former Tide players Jeremiah Castille (defensive back), Joey Jones (wide receiver), Ricky Tucker (defensive back) and Laney Norris (defensive back), Gary Rutledge (quarterback) and Keith Pugh (wide receiver) are guests of the tournament, along with several current Crimson Tide players.
"It looks like the defensive backs will have to cover the receivers when we get on the golf course," said Norris, a Russellville insurance agent and former Tide star who attended the tournament last year at the Robert Trent Jones course in Iron City.
"We had around 20 teams last year, and I think a lot of people will come back out because they know it's for a good cause."
All proceeds from the tournament will go to the ranch, and the deadline to register is July 6. To register a team, call 356-8900 or 810-4908.
