Gulf Coast CC swings to victory at MCC Invitational

Gulf Coast Community College landed three players on the All-Tournament team, as the Bulldogs captured first place at the Meridian Community College Invitational on Tuesday.
Gulf Coast golfers Jeremy Lampley, Allen Martel and Cian Daly each finished in the top five, as Andrew College's Evan Scanlan took medalists honors at the two-day tournament at Briarwood Country Club.
Scanlan earned medalists honors by defeating Daly on the third playoff hole. The Andrew College golfer ended the tourney with a 78-72150.
MCC's Matt Ellis and Dan Kania also earned spots on the All-Tournament team.
Gulf Coast won the tournament with a two-day total of 299-307606. Daly led the charge for the Bulldogs notching a 76-74150. Lampley finished with a 76-76152 for Gulf Coast, and Martel scored a 74-79153.
MCC came in second with a team score of 305-319624.
Shane Murphy tallied a 78-78156 for the MCC green team, and Jordy Hayden scored a 77-79156. Clay Jarrell knocked in a score of 73-86159, and Shane Parker finished with an 80-91171.
Kania, who played as an individual in the tourney, scored a 77-75152 to earn All-Tournament honors. MCC's Caleb Davis tallied a 76-77153, and Daniel Hailey finished with an 87-80167.
Copiah-Lincoln and Northeast Mississippi Community College finished the tournament tied for third with a 645. Co-Lin's team posted scores of 322 and 323, and Northeast notched scores of 315-330.
Andrew College came in fifth with a 324-327651, and Holmes Community College finished sixth with a 350-337687. Pearl River, which finished the first day with a 329, didn't compete on the final day of the tournament.
Holmes was the only team to finish with a lower score on Tuesday then in the opening day of the tournament, when the players had to deal with stiff winds.
