West Lauderdale rolls, sweeps West Marion

Kayla Eubanks had four hits for West Lauderdale on Tuesday in the Lady Knights' second game against West Marion, but none bigger than the last one.
Eubanks drove in the game-winning run in the eighth inning of Game 2 to give West Lauderdale a second-round sweep with a 4-3 win. The Lady Knights won Game 1 11-1.
Eubanks also had three hits in West Lauderdale's win in Game 1, as did Holly Herrington. Sidney Cagle added two hits for the Lady Knights, who had 16 hits.
West Lauderdale had even more hits in the nightcap, when the Lady Knights pounded out 20 hits. But 19 of them were singles, and West Lauderdale left 16 runners on base, leaving West Marion plenty of opportunities to stay in the game.
Eubanks slammed that door shut with her game winner.
Kristi Lantz and Summer Jones each knocked out three hits, while Cagle and Herrington had two hits for West Lauderdale in Game 2.
West Lauderdale will host cross-county rival Southeast Lauderdale in the third round on Saturday.

North Pike 2-3-5
Abby Havard's two-RBI single in the fourth inning proved to be the difference for Southeast Lauderdale, which held off a late charge to top North Pike in the decisive Game 3 of their second-round playoff series.
Havard's broke a tie and put the Lady Tigers up 6-4, and Southeast Lauderdale held North Pike to one run in the seventh to cling to the victory.
Jessica Rose was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for the Lady Tigers in Game 3. Heather Harper, Tiffany Roulier, Martika Ivy and Andrea Wilson were each 1-for-3, and Breanna Newell was 1-for-1 with a triple.
Ivy and Rose also led the way for Southeast Lauderdale in Game 1, a 4-2 Lady Tigers win. Rose was 1-for-3 with a double, and Ivy was 1-for-3 with a home run. Lindsey Graham and Ward were also 1-for-3.
Southeast Lauderdale is 23-12 heading into a third-round matchup against West Lauderdale on Saturday.

Clarkdale 16-21
East Marion 6-3
Clarkdale (27-4) rolled through its second-round opponent on Tuesday, overcoming wet field conditions to blow past East Marion with 16-6 and 21-3 wins.
In the Game 1 win, Ashley Bye led the way for the Lady Bulldogs, going 3-for-4 with a home run. Savannah Satcher was also 3-for-4.
Whitney Drachenberg, Kim Seale and Sabrina Woodall each knocked out two hits for Clarkdale in Game 1.
In the Game 2 runaway, Alyssa Bye led the Lady Bulldogs with a 3-for-3 performance. Drachenberg, Satcher, Woodall and Paige Sheppard each had two hits, and Seale added a double.

Neshoba Central 9-9
Houston 6-5
The Lady Rockets advanced to a Class 4A third-round series against the New Hope-Pontotoc winner Saturday with Tuesday's home sweep of the Lady Toppers. Saturday's series would be on the road regardless of whether New Hope or Pontotoc won.
In the opener, Laura Smith belted a three-run walkoff homer in the bottom of the seventh after Houston had pulled even at 6-6 with two runs in the top of the seventh.
Smith also had a single. Sondria Hillie had three singles, Samantha Giambrone had a pair of doubles, and Leah Dennis and Kady Chandler both had two singles as the Lady Rockets improved to 22-6.
Rebecca Watkins (22-4) got the win. Houston outhit Neshoba 16-14.
In the second game, the Lady Rockets erased a 4-2 deficit with four runs in the top of the fifth and three more in the sixth to go up 9-4.
The Lady Rockets had 10 hits. Chandler had a pair of singles, Smith and Giambrone both had a double, and Jessi Nowell and Leigh Ann Taylor both had a triple.
Watkins (23-4) got the win as Neshoba improved to 23-6.

Philadelphia 5-7
Seminary 0-1
Philadelphia's defense stifled Seminary and the Lady Rockets' bats led the way in a two-game sweep.
Shenese Hunter and Shelby Smith led the way with two hits each in Philadelphia's 5-0 win in Game 1. Hunter and Erin Breland recorded two hits apiece in a decisive 7-1 victory in Game 2.
Shenique Brass hit a home run and Jillian Sparnecht added a triple in the Game 1 win.
Philadelphia is 18-7 and travels to Clarkdale for a third-round, best-of-three series on Saturday.

Union 8-5
Mize 6-0
Union swept Mize on the road in Class 1A action to improve to 24-6.
In the opener, Union outhit the Lady Bulldogs 11-10. Tiffany Thomas had two doubles and a single to drive in three runs. Winning pitcher Chasity Yates (19-6) added a pair of singles.
Union trailed 5-3 after four innings, but scored twice in the top of the fifth and added three more runs in the sixth to take the win.
The teams combined for 13 errors with Union having six.
The Lady Jackets blanked Mize in the second game. Union outhit the Lady Bulldogs 8-3. Mize committed seven errors to none for Union.
Thomas, Morgan Milling, and Paige Holsen each had a double for Union.
Yates (20-6) got the win.
Union will host Sebastopol Saturday at 5 p.m. in third-round action. Union swept the Lady Bobcats during the regular season.
